Airsoft equipment
for film productions
Realistic replicas for film shoots, music videos, commercials and photo sessions. Legal, correct weight, professional.
Airsoft replicas for film — why it works
Film production is a creative process where every detail matters. When the script calls for weapons — whether an action thriller, war drama or music video — producers face a dilemma: how to achieve realistic appearance, safety for the crew, and compliance with the law.
The solution is straightforward: airsoft replicas. They look exactly like real firearms on camera, have the correct weight, feel realistic in hand — and are completely legal sporting equipment requiring no firearm licence.
For Estonian film producers: Our rental fleet offers a wide selection of realistic replicas. We create custom solutions for each project — private individuals and production companies equally welcome. Submit a request and we can discuss details.
What productions use airsoft replicas?
Feature films and short films
Films containing action scenes — weapons, gunfire, war-themed scenes — can use airsoft replicas. They appear exactly like real firearms in front of the camera, but are safe for the crew. No firearm licence, no police notification needed (except for outdoor public locations), no complex legislation.
Music videos
Many music videos require powerful visuals — soldier imagery, tactical scenes, hardstyle or military-themed aesthetics. Airsoft equipment delivers this visual without any legal restrictions.
Commercials and advertisements
Defence companies, sporting events, tactical games and other advertisers use airsoft replicas in their marketing materials. An airsoft prop in an advertisement is entirely legal and conveys the "power" look of a product or service.
YouTube content creation
YouTube channels covering military history, tactical simulations, gaming content or high-action videos use airsoft replicas. Content creators can build their channel with realistic-looking content without real-firearm complications.
Photo sessions and PR photography
Fashion photography, military-themed fashion, tactical fitness — all these fields use airsoft replicas in photo sessions. In front of the camera, a replica looks identical to the original, but is safe to handle.
Theme games and LARP
Live Action Role Playing (LARP) events, military theme games, escape-room style adventures and other interactive experiences use airsoft equipment. Participants get an authentic experience without real danger and legal complications.
What we offer for film projects
AEG replicas — in various styles
Electric automatic replicas are available in different designs: assault rifle style, carbines, compact SMG style. All have a realistic build and feel convincing in hand. They can be used for "shooting scenes" as well as a static prop held by an actor.
GBB replicas — maximum realism
Gas blowback replicas are the best choice for film when full realism is required. A GBB fires identically to a real firearm — the action cycles, magazines drop free, casings can eject. This adds to an actor's performance a realism that struggling or CGI cannot replicate.
Pistols and short-barrelled replicas
Both AEG and GBB pistols are available. A pistol is often the most effective prop in film — manageable, fast to deploy and visually clear on screen.
Tactical gear — the complete look
Replicas are only part of a film production's needs. Through us you can also rent: tactical vests and plate carriers (MOLLE system), helmets and helmet covers, goggles and face masks (mandatory on set for safety), gloves and other accessories.
Practical tips for film producers
Camera angle and replica choice
Airsoft replicas look best at certain camera angles. In extreme close-ups there may be subtle differences — such as the orange safety tip or certain material textures. Our consultation explains which replicas give the most realistic visual.
Covering the orange safety tip
Many airsoft replicas are sold with an orange safety tip. For film shoots this can be covered with black paint (aerosol) or gaffer tape. This is entirely legal for film use of our rented props, but equipment must be restored to original condition before return.
Muzzle flash effects and CGI
Airsoft replicas fire BB pellets which are invisible on camera. Muzzle flash effects are added in post-production, giving a complete cinematic result. A GBB replica's blowback action is already visible in frame — adding natural realism.
Safety on set
Even on film sets, safety rules must be followed. We recommend: all crew members wear rated eye protection when on the active set; only experienced persons handle replicas outside direct takes; safety selector always on between takes.
Which replica types are in our rental fleet?
- Assault rifles: M4/AR style, AK style — the most common and recognisable
- SMGs (submachine guns): Short, compact — for CQB and confined spaces
- Pistols: Glock, M9 style — manageable, popular in film
- Sniper rifles: Longer, more precise — suitable for outdoor film work
